Procedure Description:
Balloon Kyphoplasty

What To Expect:
Balloon Kyphoplasty is done under a general anesthetic. The procedure takes less than one hour per fracture and may require an overnight hospital stay. Generally, patients are discharged from the hospital within 24 hours.

Preprocedure:
Nothing by mouth after midnight the night before the procedure. Check into Surgical Admissions Unit 2 hours before scheduled procedure time.

Postprocedure:
After the procedure, you will be transferred to the Recovery Room for about an hour. A nurse will monitor your condition. During your hospital stay, you will be encouraged to walk around. A post op appointment will be set up in our office upon discharge from the hospital. Most patients find their mobility is quickly improved after the procedure, and are able to gradually resume activity once discharged from the hospital.
